Craft Closet Organization Makeover
How to transform an unused closet into a dedicated space for craft supplies and gift wrap.
Over the years, my family has accumulated an impressive collection of gift wrap, ribbons, and art supplies. So, I transformed an empty basement closet into a beautiful, well-organized hub for all of our gifting and craft materials.
Tip # 1: Maximize the Real Estate
All though there is not much square footage, I wanted the craft closet to feel like a mini gift shop, stylish and functional. The walls were the perfect surfaces to create space-effective storage solutions in this small room.
I purchased one large 47.75” x 95.75” pegboard sheet from Lowes for less than $20, and they cut the board in half for free!
Tip #2: Categorize & Create Zones
With gifting alone, you may need wrapping paper, tissue paper, gift bags, bows, ribbon, tape, gift tags, and/or scissors. Sorting everything into categories from the beginning is helpful so you know what you have and need to create solutions for.
In my case, I had a lot of gift bags, ribbon, and coloring supplies. I envisioned a rainbow wall of bags, and these long pegboard hooks hold a lot of bags on one hook. Also, these paper towel holder hooks worked perfectly for ribbon. Lastly, these pegboard hooks cups make sorting pencils, pens, markers, and more simple.
