Create a Welcoming Fall Front Porch

As the crisp autumn air rolls in, feel the season’s spirit and create a welcoming entry for guests and passersby. I’m sharing my favorite fall front porch tips and tricks to boost your home’s curb appeal and create a well-decorated front porch that is sure to be the talk of the neighborhood.

Pumpkins

What’s more iconic than a pumpkin during fall? Not much!

I had success with finding inexpensive pumpkins at Aldi and Trader Joe’s. Classic orange pumpkins were $3.59/each and $3.99/each, respectively. Whole Foods also had a great variety of sizes, colors, and textures.

To keep persistent little pests from eating the decoration, I sprayed the pumpkins with hairspray. Supposedly, hairspray will deter squirrels and chipmunks, but the pumpkins will have to be resprayed frequently. (I’ll update the post here to let you know if it worked!)

Have any other tips? Leave it in the comments!

Mums

Autumn’s most iconic flowers, mums, start taking center stage at almost any garden store in late summer/early fall.

Their cheery range of colors continue to bloom until frost, and best of all, Mums are (usually) inexpensive!

From yellow to orange to burgundy, Mums add a pop of color to any front porch.

Remember, mums love the sun and need to be watered frequently because their shallow roots dry out quickly.

Throwback Bonus!

Last year, I had a fantastic apartment and front porch in Richmond’s Museum District. Given that it was a rental, I did not want to invest too much money decorating. Target brought back their giant spider web and spider so you can get the exact same spooky look! Also, here are two similar woodchip wreaths, one and two.

P.S.
