Styling the Living Room for Fall
With pumpkin spice lattes back on cafe menus and football streaming live, fall is right around the corner! Autumn is my favorite season. So, of course, I had to decorate!
My design style is transitional. I love mixing traditional and contemporary finishes, materials, and fabrics for a classic and timeless vibe. However, especially during fall, I think it can be difficult for the transitional style because farmhouse-inspired decor is saturating the market.
If you’re in the same boat as me, there are so many workarounds! For example, the welcome sign originally had a light brown colored frame. Using a thick black Sharpie marker, I was able to give it a clean, crisp refresh. Still, very fall but now more my aesthetic.
Another easy way to get cozy fall vibes without looking too "country” is to think about colors and textures. The framed Chicago photo definitely does not scream fall. But the red and yellow colors in the photo complement the red dried pampas grass and orange round ribbed glass vase.
Fun fact, I used floral foam to set the grass in place but you could see the green foam through the glass vase. So, I lined the inside of the vase with a brown paper bag. Easy fix!
